Suspected DUI Driver Michael Lee Arrested After Fatal Santa Maria Crash on West Stowell Road
Santa Maria, California (February 13, 2020) – A suspected DUI driver Michael Lee, 25, of Santa Maria, was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injuries early on Friday morning.
The fatal collision was reported at around 1:25 a.m. February 7, on West Stowell Road near Blosser Road in Santa Maria.
The accident involved a vehicle driven by Lee and another automobile operated by 37-year-old Leonel Tinoco of Santa Maria. The primary report showed that Tinoco's vehicle was broadsided by the second automobile driven by Lee for unknown reasons.
Lee reportedly suffered minor injuries following the mishap.
Tinoco was declared dead at the crash site.
Detectives believed Speed was a factor prior to the occurrence of the collision.
