Police Officer Sustains Minor Injuries in Hit-and-Run Car Crash at Olive Avenue and Highway 65
Porterville, California (February 26, 2020) – 32-year-old Jorge Salas has been arrested and booked into Tulare County Sheriff’s Department South County Detention Facility following a suspected hit-and-run car accident that happened in Porterville on Saturday night.
The accident involving a Porterville Police officer vehicle and a 2000 Honda Accord occurred in the area of Olive Avenue and Highway 65 shortly before 9:30 p.m. on February 22.
Salas was driving the Honda Accord west on Olive when he made an unsafe left turn and crashed with the eastbound patrol vehicle.
The officer sustained minor injuries following the collision. The unidentified victim declined first aid medication at the scene. Salas fled southbound on Highway 65 after the wreck. He was later found at his home near South Western Avenue, and the Honda Accord abandoned in the parking lot of Lowe’s.
The investigation is underway. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Porterville California Highway Patrol office at 559-784-7444.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice.
Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
