1 Injured, Jesse Esparza Arrested after Head-On Crash on Montgomery Drive near Spring Lake in Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa, California (February 4, 2020) – One person was injured Sunday night in an alleged DUI crash in Santa Rosa, according to a local news source.
The two-car crash happened at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday, February 2 on Montgomery Drive near Spring Lake.
Authorities said Jesse Esparza, 69, of Sonoma, was driving his silver Nissan Sedan eastbound on Montgomery Drive when, for an unknown reason, he allowed the vehicle to drift into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a westbound black Honda sedan.
The force of the impact caused the sedan to veer off the roadway and plunged into a nearby ravine.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and extricated the Honda driver who was trapped in the wreckage. The victim was then taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Esparza was not injured in the crash. Police determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
Authorities eventually arrested Esparza on suspicion of DUI and causing injury.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
