Palmdale, California (February 26, 2020) – 37-year-old Michael Davis of Palmdale has been identified as the male motorcyclist who died following a suspected hit-and-run traffic collision that took place earlier this month in Palmdale, the coroner’s office reported.
The fatal motorcycle crash was reported on February 8 at the intersection of 15th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard.
According to a local news source, the accident involved a Honda Civic driven by 26-year-old Hector Lara of Palmdale and a motorcycle operated by Davis southbound on 15th Street West through a green light at Rancho Vista Boulevard.
The initial report indicated that Lara allegedly ran a red light at the intersection before he struck Davis at about 12:30 a.m.
Lara abandoned his Honda and escaped on foot
Mr Davis died at the scene.
Meanwhile, Lara was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run after he turned himself in on February 24. However, the suspect was released less than eight hours later after posting bond.
