David Pinedo ID’d as Elderly Man Killed in Sanger Pedestrian Accident on 8th Street and Academy Avenue
Sanger, California (February 24, 2020) – The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has identified the elderly man who was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night in Sanger as David Pinedo, 71, of Visalia.
Police said Pinedo was hit by a northbound vehicle while he was attempting to walk across the street in a crosswalk.
Pinedo was transported to the Community Regional Healthcare Center, where he was later declared dead.
The driver involved, identified as Vivian Lugo, 44, stopped at the scene after the accident. Authorities determined that Lugo was driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident happened.
Lugo was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
The accident remains under investigation.
