Shaun Kumar Arrested after Castro Valley Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident on Redwood Road and Castro Valley Boulevard
Castro Valley, California (February 29, 2020) – The suspected hit-and-run driver who caused a traffic accident that injured a bicyclist Tuesday morning at the intersection of Redwood Road and Castro Valley Boulevard in Castro Valley has been arrested.
The crash occurred at around 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, February 25 at the Chevron gas station.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the bicyclist was in the gas station’s parking lot when he was hit by an Audi that was speeding on Redwood Road. The bicycle rider was knocked down in the roadway as a result of the crash.
The bicyclist suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident.
The Audi driver, Shaun Kumar, 19, of Castro Valley, stopped at the scene briefly but then fled westbound onto Castro Valley Boulevard, the authorities said.
Police arrested Kumar on Wednesday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
