Man Critically Injured in Oceanside Bicycle Accident on State Route 76 at Old Grove Road
Oceanside, California (February 26, 2020) – A male bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Oceanside, police said.
The accident happened at around 4:18 p.m. on State Route 76 at Old Grove Road.
Authorities said a man was riding his bicycle across the street on a red light when, for an unknown reason, he was hit by a vehicle.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found the bicyclist down on the roadway. The patient was then taken to a hospital with a serious head injury.
The driver of the vehicle involved stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police. Alcohol or drugs were not suspected factors in the collision.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
“Far too many bicycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists.
