Caltrans Worker, 2 Injured in San Marcos Car Accident on State Route 78 at Nordahl Road
San Marcos, California (February 4, 2020) - A Caltrans employee and two other people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a traffic accident involving two vehicles in San Marcos, according to a local news source.
The crash happened at around 1:50 p.m. on state Route 78 underneath the Nordahl Road overpass.
Authorities said a Jeep SUV, driven by a 41-year-old Carlsbad man, was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a Caltrans pickup truck stopped on the eastbound shoulder of the highway.
The Caltrans worker had just pulled off on the right side of the highway to check the condition of the Nordahl Road Bridge. He was seated in his pickup truck when the accident occurred.
The Caltrans employee, only identified as a 61-year-old Santee man, was transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido with a head injury.
The Jeep driver sustained cuts and bruising to the right side of his face and right eye. A 34-year-old Carlsbad woman, who was riding as a passenger in the Jeep, was taken to Palomar Medical Center with major to moderate head injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
