Chula Vista Man Killed, Four Injured in Elfin Forest Car Accident on Harmony Grove Road near Wild Willow Hollow Road
San Diego County, California (February 1, 2020) – A man was killed and four other people were injured Friday morning in a head-on crash involving a stolen SUV in Elfin Forest, San Diego County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash took place at around 7:40 a.m. Friday, January 31 on Harmony Grove Road near Wild Willow Hollow Road.
The CHP said a 28-year-old Chula Vista man was driving a Subaru WRX westbound on Harmony Grove Road when, for unknown reasons, he drifted into an eastbound lane and sideswiped an oncoming Toyota Prius driven by a 49-year-old San Marcos man.
The Subaru then collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander SUV driven by Ardeshir Tooraji, 38, of Carlsbad. The force of the impact caused the Highlander to roll over.
The driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has been disclosed pending notification of family.
The driver of the Prius was not injured.
Tooraji and his three passengers, a 26-year-old man and two women, ages 34 and 38, all from San Marcos, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Authorities determined that the Highlander was stolen. Tooraji was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and possession of stolen property.
Harmony Grove near Wild Willow Hollow Road was shut down following the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
