Las Vegas Man Killed in Barstow Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 15 Freeway
Barstow, California (April 18, 2020) – A 43-year-old Las Vegas man was struck and killed by a vehicle after he exited his disabled vehicle on a freeway in Barstow Thursday night, according to a local news source.
The fatal crash took place at around 9:53 p.m. Thursday, April 16 on the Interstate 15 Freeway, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
As per the CHP report, the 43-year-old Las Vegas man was driving a 2002 Hyundai Elantra southbound on the Interstate 15 Freeway when his Hyundai became disabled in the center median for undetermined reasons.
The Las Vegas man then got out of the disabled vehicle and attempted to cross the southbound lanes of 15 Freeway. He was then struck by a 2014 Chevy Camaro driven by a 23-year-old Porterville woman, who was traveling in the number one lane.
The man was declared dead at the scene at around 10:10 p.m. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The driver of the Chevy stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol, Barstow Area, is investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the accident is urged to call 760-255-5900.
