Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Vehicle at 58th Street and Compton Avenue in South Los Angeles

Person Killed in South Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident at 58th Street and Compton Avenue Saturday afternoon

Los Angeles, California (April 26, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon at an intersection in South Los Angeles, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The fatal pedestrian accident took place at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the intersection of 58th Street and Compton Avenue, the CHP said.

As per the report, the pedestrian was at the intersection when he or she was struck by a vehicle.

Paramedics responded to the scene and took the pedestrian to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood. Sadly, the victim succumbed to their injuries at the hospital shortly before 5:00 p.m.

The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

Meanwhile, it remains unknown whether or not the driver involved remained at or left the scene as those details were not declared in the report.

58th Street and Compton Avenue were temporarily blocked as authorities investigated the cause of the accident.

A person on foot is no match for a vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death. “Due to the incredibly serious nature of these types of injuries, pedestrian accident cases often require special care in order to help ensure victims receive the full compensation they need for extensive medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation therapy, in-home care, lost past and future earnings, and numerous other economic and non-economic damages”, Said Arin Khodaverdian, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Arin noted that pedestrians, in most instances, have the right-of-way when crossing a street or an intersection. According to Arin, to properly investigate a pedestrian crash and prove negligence, enough resources are required. “A skilled attorney has the resources and will help investigate the accident to determine the party at fault,” Arin said
