Coroner IDs Bicyclist Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Statham Boulevard in Oxnard as Michael Nunziato
Oxnard, California (April 29, 2020) – The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Oxnard as Michael Nunziato, 49, of Oxnard.
The deadly accident took place at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, April 26, in the 2400 block of Statham Boulevard.
Police said a 43-year-old man was driving his 2017 Honda Civic northbound on Statham Boulevard when, for undetermined reasons, he hit Nunziato, who was riding his bicycle in an unknown direction along the highway.
Nunziato was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.

“Far too many bicycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group.
