Bicyclist Hit, Killed by Vehicle near Yorktown Avenue and Vasile Circle in Huntington Beach

Man Killed in Huntington Beach Bicycle Accident near Yorktown Avenue and Vasile Circle

Huntington Beach, California (April 2, 2020) – A bicyclist died after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night in Huntington Beach, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash happened at around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, near the intersection of Yorktown Avenue and Vasile Circle.

Authorities said a man was riding his bicycle near the Huntington Beach intersection when, for unknown reasons, he was struck by a silver 2016 Honda Pilot driven by a 46-year-old Huntington Beach resident.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found the bicyclist unresponsive in the roadway. He sustained major internal injuries and was declared deceased at the crash site. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The Honda Pilot acquired front-end damage in the crash and was found parked near the scene of the collision. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.

The accident remains under investigation. Huntington Beach police Accident Investigator A. Turner asked anyone who witnessed the crash to call them at 714-536-5670.

“Far too many bicycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.
