Middletown Bicycle Accident at Chalmers Street and India Street Resulted in Major Injuries

Middletown, California (April 21, 2020) – Authorities are investigating the cause of a major injury bicycle accident that happened in the area of Middletown Friday morning.

The accident involved a crossover-style vehicle and a 74-year-old man who was riding his bike on the sidewalk near the intersection of Chalmers Street and India Street.

The initial report indicated that the rider was entering the street when he was struck by the vehicle that was turning right from Chalmers Street onto India Street at around 11:20 a.m. April 17.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue, along with mechanics from GP Motorcycles on India Street, responded at the scene and extricated the man who was trapped under the vehicle upon the impact.

The rider sustained serious injuries, including fractures to his pelvis, left arm, and ribs. He was transported to a local hospital for further aid.

The accident remains under investigation.
