Rider Sustains Major Injuries in Antioch Motorcycle accident on Highway 4 near Somersville Road

Antioch, California (September 16, 2019) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in an alleged hit-and-run crash in Antioch, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15 on Highway 4 near the Somersville Road on-ramp.

As per the CHP report, a blue sport motorcycle was hit by a vehicle on the eastbound side of Highway 4 for reasons still under investigation.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found the motorcyclist and the bike down on the right-hand shoulder following the crash. The rider was rushed to the hospital with major injuries. The name and current condition of the victim were not immediately disclosed.

Authorities believed that the driver of the vehicle involved fled eastbound on the highway just west of Somersville.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
