7 Hurt in Multi-Car Accident on Highway 154 in Santa Barbara County

7 Injured in Santa Barbara County Crash on Highway 154 near Lake Cachuma

Santa Barbara County, California (September 15, 2019) – Seven people were injured Saturday night in a traffic accident involving several vehicles in Santa Barbara County, authorities said.

The multi-car accident, which was reported at around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, September 14, happened on Highway 154, just east of Lake Cachuma.

According to a local news report, a man was driving a BMW eastbound on Highway 154 when for an unknown reason, he allowed the car to drift into the westbound side where it collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Tacoma.  A Jeep then struck both the BMW and Toyota.

One woman was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries. Three patients were transported by AMR ambulances to Cottage Hospital with moderate injuries. Three other victims were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Highway 154 was closed as the investigation and cleanup took place.

 An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
