1 Hurt in Alleged DUI Crash on Interstate 5 in Santa Clarita

1 Injured in Santa Clarita Car Accident on Interstate 5 near Highway 126; Marc Wakins Arrested

Santa Clarita, California (September 17, 2019) – One person was injured early Sunday morning in alleged DUI crash in Santa Clarita, a local news source reported.

The accident happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, just north of Highway 126 Sunday, September 15.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Marc Anthony Wakins, 21, of Valencia, was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 when he allegedly crashed into the rear of a Toyota Tundra pickup.

The CHP said one of the passengers in the Toyota sustained minor injuries.

Wakins was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing injuries. He was booked under felony DUI charges.

Wakins was released from custody on bond shortly before 4:30 a.m. Monday. He is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court on October 7.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
