Eldon Wolfe ID’d as Weaverville Man Killed in Trinity County Car Accident on Highway 299 near Steiner Flat Road
Trinity County, California (October 30, 2019) – Eldon Ray Wolfe, 84, of Weaverville, has been identified as the man who died Tuesday night in a head-on crash in Trinity County.
The deadly accident took place at about 8:19 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 on Highway 299, just east of Steiner Flat Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Andrew John Carey, 50, of Weaverville, was driving a GMC Sierra westbound on Highway 299 when he allowed his vehicle to drift across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a Subaru Legacy operated by Eldon Wolfe.
As a result of the crash, the two vehicles came to a stop in the eastbound lane.
Eldon Wolfe died at the scene. His passengers, Charlene Joy Wolfe, 73, and Foster Travis Burns, 57, both of Weaverville, suffered moderate injuries and were transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Carey sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center and his passenger, Kimberly Jones, 50, of Weaverville, was transported to Trinity Hospital with minor injuries.
The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the accident.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
