3 Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash on Avocado Boulevard near Challenge Boulevard
San Diego, California (October 5, 2019) – A mother and a baby was among three people injured Friday morning in a traffic crash in the area of Rancho San Diego, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash took place at about 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 4 on Avocado Boulevard, just north of Challenge Boulevard.
According to the CHP, a Ford pickup with a utility trailer driven by a 55-year-old Cajon Valley School District employee, was traveling southbound on Avocado Boulevard when the Ford veered out of a left-turn lane directly into the path of an oncoming 2011 Ford Fusion and the vehicles collided head-on.
Both vehicles were sent off careening to the east into a residential front yard after the impact.
The driver of the Ford Fusion, a 23-year-old El Cajon woman, sustained major injuries and was taken to a hospital. Her juvenile passenger had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The Cajon Valley School District worker was also hospitalized with major injuries.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
