35-Year-Old San Diego Woman, 4-Year-Old Boy Sustains Major Injuries in Kearny Mesa Crash on State Route 163 near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Monday morning
San Diego, California (November 26, 2019) - A woman and a 4-year-old boy suffered major injuries following a traffic crash that happened Monday morning on state Route 163 in the Kearny Mesa area, San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident, which was reported at around 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 25, happened on the northbound side of SR-163 near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
The CHP said a 35-year-old San Diego woman was driving a Mazda sedan on northbound SR-163 when for an unknown reason, she lost control of her car and hit the guardrail on the ride side of the freeway and was then struck by the truck. As a result of the crash, the sedan sustained severe damage.
The woman complained of labored breathing and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital while the boy sustained abrasions and was transported to Rady Children’s Hospital.
The truck driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The right two lanes were shut down while the authorities investigated and cleared the scene of the crash. All lanes were reopened as of 10:30 a.m.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
