Pilot Killed in Upland Plane Crash on Overland Court near Mountain Avenue

Upland, California (November 7, 2019) - A pilot was killed after a single-engine plane crashed into a home in Upland Thursday morning, according to authorities.

The fatal plane crash took place at around 11:00 a.m. in the 1200 block of Overland Court near Mountain Avenue.

Authorities said the 2007 fixed-wing Cirrus SR-22 was flying from Torrance Municipal Airport to Cable Airport when for undetermined reasons, the plane crashed into the single-story home on Overland Court. The accident sparked a house fire.

The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, died in the crash. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family.

Authorities said a man and his young son who were inside the house at the time of the accident were not injured.

The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.
