Henry Taylor ID’d as Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputy Seriously Injured in Redding Car Accident on Highway 299 near Lower Springs Road
Shasta County, California (November 9, 2019) - Shasta County sheriff’s deputy Henry Taylor, 30, was among three people injured Wednesday night in a traffic crash that also left one person dead in Redding.
The fatal accident happened just after 8:05 p.m.Wednesday, November 6 on Highway 299 near Lower Springs Road.
Authorities said Taylor was responding to a call in the Rock Creek area and was driving westbound on Highway 299 when he hit a deer in the roadway, causing him to lose control and struck an eastbound Toyota sedan occupied by three people.
The force of the impact caused the sedan to catch fire with three people inside while Taylor’s vehicle drifted off the roadway and ended up upside down in a ravine.
The driver of the sedan, Justine Jackson, 20, of Redding, and her passenger, Jude Lowdermilk, 2, were injured in the crash. Lowdermilk was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
A third passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the man has not yet been released pending notification of family.
.Taylor was taken to Mercy Medical in Redding with major injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the accident.
