Teen Killed in Fresno Pedestrian Accident at Valentine and Shields Avenues ID’d as Dayvon McCoy

Fresno, California (November 7, 2019) – The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has identified the boy who died Tuesday evening after being hit by a vehicle at an intersection in Fresno as Dayvon Fletcher McCoy, 16. He was a student at Central High School-East Campus.

Thefatal pedestrian accident took place at about 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5 at the intersection of Valentine and Shields avenues.

According to authorities, McCoy and his 14-year-old friend were struck by a Ford pickup truck while they were walking northbound along Valentine Avenue.

McCoy was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The 14-year-old sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, Albert Isaac Fimbrez, suffered minor injuries in the accident. He was later arrested and charged on felony murder and DUI. Authorities said Fimbrez was also driving on a suspended license.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
