Vista Woman Seriously Hurt in I-5 Collision involving Semi near Highway 78 in Escondido
Escondido, California (December 24, 2019) – Authorities have identified the victim of Escondido collision that happened Monday morning on Interstate 5 as a 29-year-old Vista woman, a local news source reported.
Authorities said the woman was traveling in a Ford Ranger when she lost control of the pickup and veered to the left across the freeway lanes. A big rig driven by a 50-year-old Murrieta man crashed into the passenger side of the pickup. Shortly after, the pickup was hit by a Toyota 4Runner driven by a 19-year-old Santee woman.
The driver of the Ford was hospitalized at Palomar Hospital with major injuries.
The other drivers were not hurt, authorities said.
Alcohol or drugs were not factors in the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
