Bakersfield, California (December 24, 2019) – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified one of the two victims killed in a traffic collision last week on Friday morning as 44-year-old Carla Latrice Strother.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened along South Union Avenue at around 6:50 a.m. on December 20.

The accident involved a Honda sedan driven by Strother on Highway 223 and a white pickup truck traveling north in the southbound lane of South Union Avenue.

The initial report indicated that the wrong-way driver struck the sedan fatally injuring the driver.

Officials pronounced both Strother and the unidentified pickup operator dead at the scene.

An occupant riding in the pickup truck was transported to the hospital for treatment of major injuries suffered in the wreck.

The detectives handling the case are gathering more details and evidence to determine the cause of the fatal accident.
