Man Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Motorized Bike Crash at Bernard and Miller Streets

Bakersfield, California (December 31, 2019) - A man on a motorized bicycle was seriously injured after a vehicle hit him Monday evening at the intersection of Bernard and Miller streets in East Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at about 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 30 at the intersection of Bernard and Miller streets.

The CHP said the man was riding his motorized bike eastbound when he collided with a pickup truck that was turning left onto Miller Street.

The force of the impact sent the man on the bike to the sidewalk. He sustained a leg injury and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the pickup truck stopped at the scene after the crash.

Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be factors in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
