Contra Costa County, California (December 31, 2019) – A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train early Tuesday morning near Richmond in unincorporated Contra Costa County, authorities said.

The deadly accident happened at around 6:00 a.m. just north of Richmond.

Authorities said the man was trespassing on the tracks when he was hit by an Amtrak Capitol Corridor Train No. 520.

The man, whose name was withheld pending family notification, died in the accident.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately available.

The accident remains under investigation.
