Laroy Kelly ID’d as Motorized Bicycle Rider Injured in Crash at Bernard And Miller Streets in Bakersfield
Bakersfield, California (December 31, 2019) – Authorities have identified the man who was hit and seriously injured by a vehicle while riding a motorized bike Monday evening at an intersection in northeast Bakersfield as Laroy Kelly, 31, of Bakersfield.
The crash occurred at about 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 30 at the intersection of Bernard and Miller streets.
The CHP said Kelly was riding his motorized bike eastbound when he struck the rear of a pickup truck that was turning left onto Miller Street.
Kelly was ejected from the bike upon the impact. According to the CHP, Kelly was not wearing a helmet and had no light on the bicycle at the time of the accident
Kelly sustained major injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the pickup truck, Jesus Rodriguez, 34, stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be factors in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
