Woman Struck and Killed by DUI Driver on Hillcrest Road in Hollister ID'd as Halie Elliott

Hollister, California (December 28, 2019) –20-year-old Halie Elliott has been identified as the woman who was killed in a suspected DUI pedestrian accident on Monday evening in Hollister.

The deadly pedestrian accident occurred at about 5:37 p.m. December 23, in the 1500 block of hillcrest Road.

Elliot was walking in the area and was hit by a van for unknown reasons.

Paramedics responded to the scene shortly after the accident and pronounced Elliott dead.

The authorities said 31-year-old Matthew Echevarria of Hollister who was driving the van did not stop at the scene and was later arrested and booked into the San Benito County Jail on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of drugs causing injury.

Echevarria may also be charged with driving with a suspended license.

The accident remains under investigation.
