Bellflower Woman Dies, 2 Hurt in Long Beach Car Accident on Pacific Coast Highway and Grand Avenue
Long Beach, California (August 19, 2019) – A person was killed and two others were injured in a two-car accident in Long Beach. The fatal crash occurred at around 2:40 a.m. Sunday, August 18 near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Grand Avenue.
According to police, Osvaldo Ramirez-Vazquez, 21, of Long Beach, was speeding eastbound on PCH when he lost control of his 1999 Lincoln Town Car. The car drifted into westbound lanes and was broadsided on its passenger side by a 2014 Cadillac XTS operated by a 49-year old Garden Grove man.
The Cadillac driver and a 21-year old Bellflower woman who was riding in the Lincoln were trapped inside the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency responders.
The Bellflower woman sustained major injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Ramirez-Vazquez and the other driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Police said Ramirez-Vazquez was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was booked on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
